What is Thai Bodywork?
Based on traditional Thai Massage (Nuad Boran), Thai Bodywork is a sacred healing treatment that integrates Yoga, Ayurveda (the Indian healing method that means "science of life"), and Buddhist spiritual practice. The first roots of this ancient system date back to over 2,500 years ago at the time of Buddha. The origin of Thai medicine is attributed to Dr. Jivaka Kumarabhacca, a personal physician to Buddha and the Sangha (the order of Buddhist nuns and monks).

Unique from other types of bodywork and massage, Thai Bodywork strives to assist receivers to release blocked areas and stimulates the flow of healing energies in the body, mind and spirit. With techniques such as acupressure along energy meridians known as the "Sen," gentle twisting, assisted Hatha yoga poses, rhythmic massage, and energy work, the blocked energy is released, and healing can begin from a holistic perspective. When the systems of the body are operating well and energy distribution is balanced, you feel calm, happy, relaxed, energetic and free from stiffness and pain. Recipients lie fully clothed on a futon on the floor while the practitioner performs a series of techniques designed to relax, heal, balance and energize the body and mind.

Whether you have a personal yoga/meditation practice or not, this healing therapy will leave you feeling refreshed, rested, and alive. Thai can be particularly beneficial to those struggling with MS, fertility issues, fibromyalgia, neck/back pain, and more. I particularly enjoy working with pre/postnatal women and highly recommend this type of healing during that time.
